Translation of the word signal

The word signal can mean something like 'a general sound or visual thing to transmit a message'. This translates in Dutch as 'signaal'. A signal is also a traffic light for trains. In Dutch, that translates as 'sein'. But I have no idea when signal means 'signaal', and when signal means 'sein'. If I have to guess, every time signal is used in a string, it is a railway signal. Like in the strings 'Signal A', 'Signal B', 'Cyan signal', ...

Is this assumption correct?

Combinators also use signals. So it might be in a different context - and that would be something from electronics.

That would also translate as 'signaal'. So how do I know when it means railway signal and when it means something else, somebody an idea?

I guess in the receiver of the "information" decides the word.

The "sein" is for humans using an technical entity. Phone, trains, cars, bycicle ("bellen")
A "signaal" is for electronic, technical entities internal communication.

I'm german, but its the same with "Zeichen" und "Signal" :D

That's true, but the problem is that when I see this:

I have no idea what the context is. Is it 'Sein G' or 'Signaal G'? Ofcourse I can request context for every single string, but I'm hoping for a general rule that I can apply to all the strings with the word signal. Because there's lots of them :D.
