Assembling machine 1 (AM1) can manufacture smart and filter inserters, but no basic inserters.
AM1 can also make all of the logistic chests. I would assume those too advance for it, but mainly it would be nice to make basic inserters with AM1.

Well ... yes, balancing ... I would like to have more time for that
There is big chance we will do some large balancing overhaul sooner or later.

I moved this thread into new category, balancing.

I would say, that upgraing to filter and smart inserters will require an AM1 and AM2, since you need the basic one first. Since there are upgrade steps that you have to go trugh to upgrade into more advanced insterters, I think it is fine to have this, inserter AM2, Fast, AM2 x 2, filter AM2 x 2 and AM1, and smart AM2 x 2 and AM1 x 2.
Seems legit.

i think the balancing is fine already, think of it like the advanced assembler has to make the chassis, main gears AND circuitry. while for the other stages all that is required is to upgrade the gears or circuitry. as it is it gets expensive to make all the assembling machines required for the smart inserter without having to upgrade them all into AM2's

That makes sense. I approve!
