As it is, dead trees produce 2 wood, and all others, larger AND smaller than dead trees, produce 4 wood.
The rocks were once made variable, so what about having the large trees produce 6-8 wood, medium produce 4, small produce 2, and dead produce 1?
I hadn't played a game on my own from the start in a few years, and those huge trees seem like they should produce more!

Wood is barely used in vanilla so this is more a point for mods.
I would vote for less wood naughtyly.
For example: Bob's mods use wood for circuits and provide a greenhouse to automate wood.

The one feature of k2 I thought really stood out was the ability to generate wood. Being able to plant trees would be nice as well.

A good mod deserves a good changelog. Here's a tutorial (WIP) about Factorio's way too strict changelog syntax!
