What am I missing here? This red chip assembler will not accept copper wires that are above regular quality?

I did see the ingredient quality selection when changing the recipe.

Am I to understand that any assembler can only work with items that are all the same quality?

I figured you could mix and match them. Is that not the case?

Correct. You have to set the assembler to a specific quality level, and give it all components of that level.
