Power bug

I using boilers and steam engins. I have 2 steam engins for one boiler. I have 18 boilers per water pump. I can produce 850 MW and I need for the base 550 MW. Why the half on the steam engins suddently not working? Result: I can produce only 330 MW and I need 550 MW. I lost suddently 500 MW. Its not suppose to be. All is respecting your calculation but not working. As I said only half of the steam engins working. Why?

I have enough water and coal.

If I add more water pump, steam engins and boilers only the half of the steam engins will working.

That its not resolve the problem. I think your calculation is wrong or we have a bug when we try to apply that calcutation. (1:40:20).

No I check it. All pole are their.

The last thing I did is to had furnaces for iron and copper plates. I had enough power for all of them. But When I connect them at my power I lost immidiatly 500 MW. Its why I only having 350MW. My system can produce 850 MW and I need 550 MW.

I have that problem since version 1.0 of factorio.

Maybe you can upload the save, so we can have a look on it?

Or at least a picture of the area.

1 Offshore Pump : 20 Boilers : 40 Steam Engines works.

HOWEVER - based on your numbers I suspect you are using some modded machinery. One Steam Engine can only produce 900 kW. A full 1:20:40 array can only produce 36 MW of power! You’re talking 20-30 times that amount!

A screenshot would help. Though you may find it more expedient to talk to the mod author.

Guess we let it go, I read his previous posts and he has several problems with power but never gives any picture or save.
He also opened a post (viewtopic.php?f=55&p=528257&sid=eab66f5 ... 8c#p528257) where he described Steinio's help as "crazy answer". Let's stick to users who want the help.

1. Steam power is trash... so 2018... plz...
2. Show SS of Your Steam Power... ?
- Click F12 to take SS with Steam
or
- Click PrintScreen to Copy ur screen ( then paste it to for example Paint and save as File )
or
- use some soft like MwSnap ( FREE soft to take SS )

About water flow speed:
- Pipe have limit of 1.200 fluid / sec ( You can force it up to 1.714 Fluid / sec )
- Storage Tank have limit of 10.000 fluid / sec
- Pump have limit of 12.000 fluid / sec
- Boilers have limit of... probably 12.000 or more...
( maybe my testing method was wrong but i don't trust descriptions etc. so i was testing using Pumps in Game )

And about Fluid Heat
long time ago there was option to run Steam Engines even on Oil and other stuff as long it was hot

I remember when i was burning unused Light and Heavy Oil with Steam Engines xD...
But tbh... maybe it still work... idk was not testing it since 0.16 or something like that...

1) Your Engines will not run on Steam with low Heat

Make sure that all your Steam is at least 90*C ( tbh. i don't remember min. temperature for Steam Boilers, im using Nuclear Reactors )

2) If You don't use Pumps then your Fluid can go all directions ( back too )
Make sure that nothing is blocking Fluid ( im controlling Fluid flow with pumps... well... only one way we have )

3) You probably have Engines not connected together or missing pole...
#ImPRO i know what im doing LOL...

4) About 1:40:20 lol
But if You are using Mods ( we don't have any info about that ) then this ratio is not right...
some mods change that... and i rly hate Factorio Mods browser... no images... ugly description...
its hard to browse mods and tell what mod is doing what xD

Image

SHOW US SCREENSHOT OF UR STEAM ENGINES !...
Or go ask somewhere else... idk how u expect ppl 2 help u when u don't event give any info about ur problem...

Your testing method was wrong.

The absolute limit for fluid flow thru an entity is 60 * capacity:

* Pipes: Capacity = 100, Max flow = 6000/s
* Boilers: Capacity = 200, Max flow = 12000/s
* Storage tank: Capacity = 25000, Max flow = 1500000/s (Note: this is not possible in vanilla Factorio due to lack of a pump with such speed).

The above fluid flow corresponds with the entity being completely filled and emptied each tick.

Sorry but I just had to appreciate the humor that noone has yet acknowledged.
