GitHub markdown != mod portal markdown sufficiently so that what looks right on GitHub may need to be edited so it looks right on the mod portal sufficiently such that it no longer looks right on GitHub? Well, that's a little disappointing.
Obvious one line suggestions:
- Make mod portal markdown render the same as GitHub markdown.
- Make game display markdown descriptions rendering them the same as mod portal.

One line:

Set default download to the latest mod release for the filtered game version.

- Rating and review system for mods
- Hide deprecated mods on a user's page behind a "show deprecated mods" button
- Profile bio
- Ability to mark a mod as a "library mod" that doesn't show up in searches or on the front page, but can be used as a dependency

But mod developers might want to search for them before implementing complicated stuff themselves.

Then have an option to show them that is disabled by default. And add a category for them so developers can search them specifically.

Updated the main post to reflect recent (*cough**cough*) developments.

- sort "my mods" alphabetically
- move deprecated to a different page from "my mods" e.g. <<previous, 1,2,3, deprecated 1, deprecated 2, next >>

Mod autoupdate or one-click-update.
Most of mods need just change one line in the info.json, why not automatically?
I have a lot of mods and a lot of them are asked for updating, what if I cannot ( / I don't want) support it anymore? Can it be updated just on the mod portal by me (or by every user)?

Some of mods can be after update broken, but it's very rarely for all stable mods.

Sort by game version, current experimental by default.
Can this be done again?
It's currently broken. In the sense that it only returns search items for 0.17 when doing a search.

Example:
https://mods.factorio.com/query/bumble-bots

Only has a 0.18 release, doesn't appear in the default search settings.

Breaks uBot integration in Discord

[Mod Portal API] A deprecated flag in Result Entry would be nice. specifically in api/mods endpoint, but Short and Full would also make sense
(i am 95% sure it currently gives deprecated entries but there is no way to tell that they are)

Support for arbitrary locations for source code? Bitbucket, Gitlab, Sourceforge?

Some mods link to their source code via the 'homepage' url, which works, mostly, but if you want to link to a forum page _and_ your source code repository, it's not an ideal solution.

I would like a setting that will allow me to specify the Factorio version I use. Currently it defaults to the stable version. I want the Mod Portal to always remember that I use version 0.18 mods.

Another issue I have is that I think the buttons on the top of the page should not disappear when selecting the Trending tab.

The mod portal should forgive a trailing slash, e.g. https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Warehousing/ returns 404

The ability to message mod authors directly, and account setting to prohibit it if the mod developer wish to opt out.

That is exactly what the "Discussions" tab does.

I infer from "directly" that "privately" was meant.

It is a bit odd that there is an optional "Contact" field in info.json but this isn't shown on the portal, and you can't set it / specify in the mod portal info fields when you edit them directly. It is however shown in the in-game mod browser.

[*] Add RSS feature to Mod Portal / Changelogs

(edited because the topic moved)

Show mod contributors on mod pages, for example like this:
