The mod portal website displays mods for 1.0, esp. if you search.
Mods which are published only for 1.1 are not visible

I think, it should either default to any version, 1.1 or at least 1.0 and 1.1

It defaults to the latest stable release, which is 1.0 . I agree that this is inconvenient for everyone playing on 1.1 (myself included), but I think it is reasonable to have it this way.

Makes sense.
But, most of the mods, which are updated to 1.1, exist for 1.0, too. So, they appear.
It's of course obvious, if you understand, how it works, but I was really confused in the beginning.

Why not display both stable AND experimental? The users on experimental are also very likely to use (new) mods.

I changed my bookmark to: https://mods.factorio.com/?version=any , but the search button switches back to 1.0

Change it to https://mods.factorio.com/?version=1.1 and search will stay at 1.1.
