[0.12.24] Planning Tool Mod
Posted: Wed Mar 02, 2016 1:46 pm
Description
This mod allows you to draw overlays in various different colours to help you when planning your factory. Your overlays will stay until you delete them, they are even persistent across a save. This means that you can use the tool for planning some distance into the future.
For more information, check the original mod thread, which is here: viewtopic.php?f=87&t=4022
I discovered this mod recently and really wanted to use it - I had been looking for a lightweight planning mod for some time and hadn't found anything similar. But it flat out refused to work on 0.12.24, so I decided to have a go at making it work and here is the result. I hope that someone finds it useful!
The source is available on Gitlab for those who are interested. My plan is to use this thread as the main location for all point releases. You will be able to download the most recent version of the mod from this post.
Thanks go to drs9999 for creating this excellent mod in the first place!
Current Version: 0.4.2
The most recent version actually fixes the bug that I made a hash of fixing in 0.4.1 (late night coding ftw!). The bug looks like this: http://imgur.com/uXuyXFa and is occasionally triggered when placing something. It was caused by an attempt to read game.player.cursor_stack.name when the player had nothing equipped. Thanks to TheMysticalFork for reporting it.

Download or, if you want to contribute/see the source, it's on Gitlab: https://gitlab.com/FactorioMods/PlanningToolMod
NO MULTIPLAYER (yet...)
It almost certainly won't work for multiplayer. As of version 0.4.0, I have simply updated various outdated lua function calls.
