Water Supply

Smart setups of railway stations, intelligent routing, solutions to complex train-routing problems.
Please provide - only if it makes sense of course - a blueprint of your creation.

Water Supply

Post by DingoPD »

I needed a new water supply station, that was this morning, next thing i know it's almost afternoon and i ended up with this.

I think i got just a bit sidetracked.
Efficiency is just highly developed form of laziness.

I NEED THAT! Do you have a blueprint? Just by any chance? Would love to look at it in my save and see how i can fit this in my own base!

Two green lights are not working on platform 1. Have you fixed it, @Dingo_PD?

That might be because the tanks are only 2/5ths full

Style and attention to beauty of design 10/10
UPS friendly - 1/10
Thrutput - 6/10

Some ideas for improvement:
The train signals are messed up. General rule of thumb, before cross chain - after cross block signal.
Fluids goes slower when tank is emptiing, for fastest flush you rather make a buffer of two tanks side by side, and connect to pump to wagon. This buffer feed by one ofshore pump. Important, make 4 sections, for each wagon. Section is separated from each other.

Result is better fuilds flow and MUCH less computing.
Also, pump can do pumping faster when it is close to a tank, that is reason why connect two tanks side by side so a pump is sort-off sucking from two tanks at once.
Also you get 3 less tank per section.

Hello.
Evolving on what gGeorg aleady said.
Consider this:

Fluid systems.
Two tanks per wagon. Each tank is filled with 2 attached offshore pumps, that is enough to fill half the tank while next train gets into station. Fluid systems are separated, so basically nothing to calculate here, no fluid containers connected to each other, not even tank to tank => ups more friendly.
Since tanks are always full on train arrival, there's no need to have any circuit logic to disable station.

Power.

No power consumers other than 8 pumps here, peaking to 240kW in common, but they're not working 100% of the time, more like in shorts bursts while train at station. Their day-average is below 80k, so 2 solar panels and 2 accumulators are enough to fully power them autonomously.

Additional signals to provide better train throughput, next train starts to accelerate earlier. Consider having a rail block that fits the whole train after the station though.

Blueprint.
