belt based storage

i was looking for a way to store a lot of asteroid chunks and thought of belt weaving as a potential solution... apparently this accursed thing can hold 11502 chunks, which is more than 8.2 times what i would have been able to store if i had used the space to fill it with legendary cargo holds  Image

also pleasantly surprised to see that other folks thought about doing the same thing!

Looks pretty and all. Seen many threads like this and I still don't understand why anyone would ever make a chunk storage. Isn't the 39 storage in asteroid collector and a 10-20 length belt more than enough of a buffer for any purpose? (not snarky. legit question)

When you're collecting promethium chunks (which don't stack) you need all the belt storage you can get.

Hmm I wonder if this is an "exploit" as I believe storage being limited was an intentionally balance decision (hence why you can't just use chests)

I see. But in that case this design can only make around 5000 promethium science.
Why not just use overgrowth soil recycling, which will easily allow you to make 100000 science per trip using even less space ship capacity.
