Mod Portal Page: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/pyveganism
Github: https://github.com/tiriscef/pyveganism

Description:
  • Add plants and biotechnical processes to allow you to play pySuite without exploiting virtual animals.
It's the mod with possibly the smallest possible target audience. But some of it's features may be interesting for all pyanodians.

If you have ideas, suggestions, opinions, etc. feel free to let me know them.

It's the mod with possibly the smallest possible target audience. But I will try to make this mod interesting for all pyanodians.

This is a work in progress for now and far from being finished, as I have to research stuff, create ideas and learn how some things work in modding factorio.

TODO: Alternative chains for:
  • Bone Meal
  • Lard
  • Biological Sample 01
  • Fertilizer
  • Nylon/Blood Meal
  • Collagen
  • Myoglobin
  • Resilin
  • Urea
  • Serine
  • Vanadium
Done: nothing yet :x
1vanadium requires bacteria not animals and there are also 2 PA ways to get it its HEAVY on power but its WAY more compact
2nylon already has a inorganic way ; well the benzene is from crude oil that is organic , and the ammonia is from N2 and H2 from the air ,but power heavy
3fertilizer i asked py for a long time for a non zipir way to get it so u have my support here
4Biological Sample 01- bacteria not actual animals used
5urea its used like 90% ot the time to make ammonia and like i said above is from N2 and H2 from the air ,but power heavy , besides that it is used for raylon and cyanic acid

Oh, I began with adding a fictional willow with pale, calcium-containing branches to get Bone Meal.

I like the idea of kola nuts, but what would be their purpose? o.o

This list doesn't necessarily mean that those items aren't obtainable in a vegan way, but that I plan on implementing something for them.

The pyfe chain to obtain vanadium uses molluscs, which are animals. (Which makes only little sense in real life^^) I wanted to add a fictional kind of... Fliegenpilz? Whats the english word for that? Wikipedia says fly agaric.
Anyway. They also concentrate vanadium, although not as much as molluscs.
But I didn't see the pyph-recipes, thanks.
Nylon is similar: You need pyro to have the purely chemical chain.

Well no vegan but this looks like playing without biters can be interesting by another way with this mod.

Hey,

I'm currently working on a way to get urea from bacteria.

The concept is:
You have an thermophilic archae-bacterium, which needs really hot water to life. And under hyperthermic stress (when the medium is too hot) it creates nitrous products out of elementary nitrogen to cool itself. Until it dies because the nitrous medium becomes toxic.
And you have another bacterium that creates urea from the nitrous medium and carbon dioxide.

(Yeah, none of that is real. I'm making up microorganisms and plants to fill the logical gaps. My main goal is to make an interesting and fun production chain that waves at real life sciences from afar.)

I had the idea to use factorios temperature system for the archae-steps, like
breeding-recipe: 75°C Water + Pressurized Air -> Archea fiicorum
hyperthermic stress: 85°C Water + Hot Air + Archea fiicorum -> Nitrous Medium
and having recipes to heat water to a specific temperature or mixing water and steam.

But I don't know if that's a good idea, because then you can accidentally mix fluids of different temperatures.
Image
And afaik it's not possible to let a recipe accept an interval of temperatures, which makes mixing fluids of different temperatures... not viable.

So, do you think having to heat water to a specific temperature to use it in the bioreactor would be fun or just annoying pseudo-realism?

(Also, does anyone want to name the second bacteria?)

Ya. It actually is. Just set minimum temp instead of temp on the fluid and anything hotter than that will be accepted.

Koun, that new recipes which u want to make - its must replace original py recipes or it may exist in parallel with original py recipes?

They will exist in parallel to pyanodons recipes.
Also I try to design my chains to be an distinct alternative to pyanodons chains, so that the mod is interesting for everone that wants to have more choice. :)

Can oleochemicals be extracted not from lard but from fruits, vegetables and etc?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleochemistry
Oleochemicals can be getted from vegetable oils too
Same with glycerol - bob's way to get glycerol from light oil was convenient but pyanodon decided not to leave it as it existed - i donno may be that's right decision - but i want some new few ways to get glycerol

I'm currently working on a chain to get lard from oil plants like oil palms, coconut palms, cocoa, canola, ...
To get oleochemicals and glycerol directly from plant oil would be logically, so yes I will implement something for that :)

PS: thank you kingarthur, I didn't know this site existed^^" very useful

Does anyone know which building would be suitable for pressing plants?

Would depend a bit on where you want this to be tech wise: An assembler 2 or automated factory would do fine early on. More mid-game could use the Compressor or Jig, depending further on how complex you intend to make the recipes.

I think you could argue that the pulp mill could press plants.

py used a specific building for extracting oil why not use that?

pulp mill is the one...i will use it in pyAL to make the same thing.

(Senpai noticed me :>)

I published an alpha version of the mod for now, because all (2) items of pycp now have an alternative chain. Next will be pyfe with Vanabins and Serine.

Pulp mill is good machine but why not add press machine to PYCP?

Hey,

I released version 0.0.2, featuring poop. Although a bit delayed because I was on vacation in south germany.

New Features:
- Water Purification, Sewage Sludge and Marsh Gas
- Atztazzae mushrooms to get Vanabins
- More uses for plant residues
- Optional Hardcore vegan/vegetarian mode that disables the evil machines (kmaut and zipir go untouched for now because there are no replacements yet.
- Plant oil saponification

Atztazzae mushrooms are supposed to be hard to get going, but then they are very energy efficient compared to xyhiphoes.

Next I'm in the mood for rocket fuel from in vitro human blood and fertilizer.
Also I need to rethink my generation of growing recipes. I want to add humus and klärschlamm in them, but the number of generated recipes would increase exponentially and I don't know if anyone would want that.
Oh, and I need to figure out how to calculate the energy gained from combustion recipes. I don't know if the balancing of my combustion recipes is good or bad.^^"
