Is there a bug with updating the Steam version?
I haven't played in a while, and I just checked Factorio.
It says that my version is still at v1.1.80, and Steam says there is no update.

This is an experimental release, you would need to opt in the beta on steam to get, see my signature.

Aha, ok. Thanks for the info.

I prefer to not be a beta tester. If my game breaks after spending 50+ hours on a map I would be devastated.

Factorio is an incredibly lovingly polished game, so if you ever do decide to take the plunge into beta waters, you are most unlikely to encounter any problems let alone a major bug. I have over 5000 hours on beta versions and the only bugs were fixed and a new version released before I got to download the offending version.

Just stay on normal release. Although experimental release is usually more stable than other games' stable release

This release was just marked as stable, so you will now be on the latest version.

Really? The wiki still shows it as experimental:

Trust factorio.com, not the wiki which must be manually updated (presumably)

You're right, I should have looked there! Not sure why I didn't, but in this case, the result is still weird:

I guess the intended meaning is that both players who use the stable version and players who have enabled updates to experimental will get version 1.1.87, but my first idea on seeing this was that the same version can't be both stable and potentially buggy (i.e. experimental) simultaneously. :-)

That is just how it works.

You only find out if it's buggy, if you release it as potentially unstable to a group of people. As soon as you know there are no major flaws, you mark it as release candidate / stable.
