Still getting the "factorio stopped working" error while updating in Win7.

Try redownloading from the website, there was a bug in the updater of a few versions ago.

That error is not from a few version ago. That error is nearly consistent over all versions I can remember. The game always crashs after updating. After restarting it works without a problem in the new version.

Have you tried updating with your virus scanner disabled?

Well my game crashed the last time after updating (auto-updater) when i updated from 0.10.3 to 0.10.4.
The last two updates were fine and no crash appeared.
The game-crash from 0.10.3 to 0.10.4 tho, acted like you said. It worked fine after restarting.

Maybe your files are corrupted in any way?

Manual re-download from the website should work.

I have similiar experience. Often the game crashed after updating. It was working correctly after next activation (Vista)

What about 0.10.6 for mac os x?
The game insist that 0.10.4 is the last version.

I had an issue to on WIN 8 so i needed to replace a file in the C:\Program Files\Factorio\data\core\locale\nl (if standard installed) file "item-names.cfg and item-descriptions.cfg" needs to be replace from an 0.10.2 version downloaded from the site.

i cant even start it. i'm getting this error

d:/program files(x86)\factorio\data\base|locale\nl\item-names.cfg(1):'=' character not found in line

i'm getting same error when i instal for english language

That is an error in the dutch locale, you need to change it in the config manually.

it's an error in every language, what config file do i change then

The file with the error is right on the error message you posted.

like i said, the errorr is in EVERY language file. if its dutch or english, they ALL display the same error notification.
i checked both config files and everyone of them is showing the '=' symbol. so i don't know which line i need to change.


the thing is that bothers me is the path it shows.
'd:/program files(x86)\factorio\data\base|locale\nl\item-names.cfg'

between base and locale there is this '|' instead '\'

im not sure if this is normal? maybe i need to change a different config file.

if so please show me.

This is normal. The pipe character is factorio's way of showing that the path continues in a logical package.

ok.. problem still not solved.
