I wanted to make a new single player map. Leaving everything to default. I clicked on map preview and the game crashes.
Instead of the crash I want to see the map and make is specific to what I want it.

Staps to reproduce:
click on single player
click on new game
click on next
click on the Terrain tab button
uncheck cliffs checkbox
click on the enemy tab button
uncheck Enemy bases checkbox
click on the Advanced tab button
change Research queue availability to Always
click on preview
click on the Terrain tab button
slide the Water Coverage slider to the left
slide the Water Coverage slider to the right
game crashed

PC Specs:
CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900K 3.20 GHz
RAM: 16,0 GB (15,8 GB usable)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti
OS: Windows 10 Pro

Takes staps to solve:
steam Verify integrity of game files (found nothing)
windows updates (is up to date)
update drivers (all are up to date)

Do these steps reproduce the crash or was it a one time thing?

The steps reproduce the crash, I did it a few times this way and it crashed every time.

Hello, I followed the reproduction steps but was unable to reproduce the bug.

Can you try downloading the non-Steam version from our website?
If that doesn't work, can you share a video where you reproduce the crash?
Also, does Factorio crash when you play the game normally?

My best guess at this point is hardware instability of your system.

When I downloaded the non-steam version and tried it again and it soft crashed my pc. The pc restarted no errors or BSOD.

I have added the log of that try, but I start to think it might be a hardware instability as well

This seems to be a hardware issue then. Nothing that we can fix, unfortuantely.
