From one moment to another back to Version 0.17?

We picked a 0.18... for a very long Multiplayer (Py) session.

But today when I started Factorio it is back to 0.17.79.
We can no longer load the game
Also our Version we picked for this session seems no longer availible in Steam?

Any chance to get our game version back?
Where to find the exact game version we picked for this - cant find it in the savegame...

Same on the other PC's. When I boot them, steam forces an update and killes our multiplayer version :(.

Any chance to download the old version somewhere?
We have reall a huge amount of mods and they are not working with oder or newer versions.
We are 350 hours in this savegame and now it is broken

Please help!

What exact version do you want to return to?

See my signature.
Why do you not want to update to the latest experimental version if your save is on an older 0.18?

I have a py world - with at least 150 Mods installed.
Some of them are self written.
We play this world now for month in Multiplayer.

For example FNEI is no longer working with latest 0.18.x. - but we have a self modified FNEI showing what items are already in stock an what not.
If i update the game and Mods like FNEI, all our changes are gone.
Some mods can be removed, for example equal distribution is no longer working and can be removed without impact.
But others which change recipes would be a hell in pyworld. Currently we produce 1400 different items in a fully belt based base...

Was late at night last evening, so I could no longer answer.

Tried to get the log - but it only saves the last 2 starts as it seems.
So unfortunately it is long overwritten, because i started the game lots of times to try get it working.
So all Logs start now with the current installed version: 0.000 2020-06-05 16:29:32; Factorio 0.18.30 (build 52572, win64, steam)

I try to work out the bugs one by one and merge only the relevant fixes from the githup repositorys in order to not destroy the base.

Maybe it would be a good idea have some sort of a "long term stable" version which is availible at least a jear or so for long games.
Thats really not funny breaking such a big game in the middle of a map.

Love factorio absolutely with 2095 hours played so far. But this really depressed us.
Hope I get the map running again

I can't read this in a tone other than sarcasm, but that doesn't match rest of the stuff you are saying, so I am really baffled by this.

Anyhow, you can download older 0.18 version from factorio.com

You could have simply disabled updates and kept any version -stable or not- indefinitely.

It's not possible to disable updates on Steam, but the default installation (no beta branch selected) is stable release, and if it so happens we release another stable version during someone's long playthrough, and the new version doesn't allow to continue in that playthrough for whatever reason, they can go select older stable version from beta branches. So "long term stable" releases exist, people get them by default, and they must explicitly opt-into experimental versions in order to NOT play on "long term stable" version.

Hi,
I can't read this in a tone other than sarcasm
Sorry, this was not my intend and maybe an issue of my bad english.
It was really a question how to get a version that keeps stable for a long time.
And the Question - how to see in a save game the name of the needed game version?
You could have simply disabled updates and kept any version -stable or not- indefinitely.
Unfortunately this is not the case and was the reason our game is broken.
We have not enabled auto update and all selected a fixed version - still there was a forced update after a few month when this version was removed. I guess when a version is completely removed from this "beta drop down" in Steam, the update to some other random version is enforced.
And Because the udpate start right away when booting the PC, we have not managed to save this old version on any of the participating pc's.
Anyhow, you can download older 0.18 version from factorio.com
This would solve our problem and was my initial Question.
But I can not find this - can you please help us with a link where to find this?
people get them by default
Now we know this. Completly our fault.
I do not want to blame someone.
I desperate beg for help to rescue our base we build the last few hundred hours. Please imagine how frustrating this is for us after month of playing...

Concerning the version you need: You can find it in the game. No need to open the zip files.

Start Factorio with any version and go to either Single Player → Load game or to Multiplayer → Host Saved Game, you should be able to see which version was used in your save. It is listed as the version of the mod "base" in the modlist. Alternatively, assuming you play just freeplay, it should correspond to the "Map version".

https://www.factorio.com/download/experimental
But must own the game to follow this link.

Great! Thank you very much! You saved my... hmmm... time? mood?
This was exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks :) -> more than happy!

I needed to use the Account from the mods portal on the webpage, in order to see the downloads.
For that reason I was not able to see them without the login before.

I bought the game in steam years ago and got the account back then.
Hard to remember this after years...
