In this thread, we reminisce about the ways Factorio used to be much different from what it is today.
I'll start us off.
Remember when aliens would only attack a small set of specific buildings? You could basically leave your whole base undefended (including but not limited to your mining outposts), and simply set up a perimeter around vital parts (most notably, labs and logistic bots).

Remember when logistic robots and construction bots exploded when they ran out of energy?
Those were the days of frantic roboport placing lol!

I remember back before spitters came out. I had started experimenting with conveyerbelt-enhanced walls before that, then they became significantly less effective.

I'm replying again since I just thought of something else that's more creative:
Who remembers when factories (and more) didn't make backround sounds?
Your factory was practically silent before that update...

Remember when logistic robots could roam around freely, without energy consumption or being tethered to a roboport?

Remember the times where underground belts didn't exist, and it had to be solved by long handed inserters?
There were even very-long inserters to make it possible to cross rails.
We have all these versions available around, so we should throw a few on the factorio history page (that should be created sooner or later).

I remember when Plastic looked like the currnet research icon, black, rather than white, so it wasnt really possible to confuse it with steel, but it was hard to see on conveyer belts.

I remember, when the moving inserters hurt the character and found it cool, cause it remembered me to zones in roboter fabrics, where you should not enter.

Remember when a box of items would explode all over the ground if you tried to pick it up and your inventory was full.
That was one of my favorites.

Oh gods. Those were the days.
You can still pretend by starting to craft a ton of stuff, filling your inventory, and canceling it...
