So the player lands on this alien planet, with only a couple of tools...Then manages to build up industrial infrastructure. The player cuts down trees, mines out resources, destroys the native life.

Not only that, but the player seems to have some sort of an environment suit. They have no trouble running around in this; in fact, they can carry hundreds of stones, iron plates, robot arms, factories, toting it all around with no problem. Are they super strong?

Why are they so obsessed with robots, with construction, with destroying aliens and turning the planet into a base to launch rockets from?

OMG.... you're right!

Maybe we could assimilate the biggest of the biters and have them transport stuff from various parts of our bases... who needs logistic drones? Same for replacing turrets with worms.... oh the possibilities.
