On Friday Facts 17 there is a picture of pipes being in parallel and not connected. Is it possible to do that in game or it isn't there yet?

It is not possible now, we thought it will be needed, but for now it seems like having to build to not let them connect is not so hard when you can use pipe to ground and is kind of puzzle to coordinate all pipes and transport belts together.

you can parallel pipe-to-ground connections just fine, although once you go so far that you start needing pumps, I think pumps are omnidirectional like pipes, but you should be able to stagger where the underground portions come up just fine.

You get the added bonus of open real-estate this way, and less likely a stray biter gnaws on your lines.
