Hello everyone,

when i try to buy factorio via the website the price for a website or steam key is 27,37€.
When i buy it directly from humble bundle or from steam it only costs 25€.
Is this price difference intended?

Greetings
Michalus

Steam is able to lock products to specific regions, and give discounts to certain regions like yours.

The factorio.com store is not that sophisticated, so everyone pays full price.

@DaveMcW : While you're correct overall, I'm not sure this is the right answer here. Were I live (France), I should pay the "regular full price" on Steam (25€). And the humble bundle widget on Factorio's website is 27.5€. I thought they should be the same too, and am as surprised as OP that there is a difference.

Developers usually want people to buy the game directly from them to avoid giving a percentage of the price to marketplace platforms like steam. But if the game is cheaper on steam, it discourages people to buy it on the website.
Just wanted to draw attention to that in case the devs were not aware.
Ofcourse if the game is as good as factorio, i definitely want to support the devs and do not mind paying a bit more for the game on the website.

If the price difference is intended i think fans that try to support the devs by buying the game via the website should get a fair warning that the price of the game might be a bit higher on the website compared to other platforms.

Thats still Steams regional pricing

The website is 'full price', which is $30.
Humble converts this to your local currency

However Steam has a specific regional price, which is €25.

We really don't mind you buying the game on Steam,
Please buy the game wherever is most convenient for you

If the price on Steam if 50% lower due to your regional currency, then please don't feel bad for buying it there.

Do you guys make more money from direct purchase than Steam?

Just curious how that works.

Thanks!

With Steam, they take a 20-30% cut depending on revenue. Buying directly, it could be a several percent credit card fee.
