Hey bobingabout, I like your mods, they really flesh out the game, and they are realistic.

I would like to know if there are any useful/decent video walkthroughs on your mod systems though, as they are quite complex and it might help me and others with setting up a proper factory to take advantage of your content.

I think a simple flowchart showing the interconnections and dependencies of raw materials for the different products/tech trees would be super handy.

Also, your modules addon is super complicated, and I think there is some missing info on the general procedure required. I can see the recipes and some notes etc on the forum and in the readme, but nothing ACTUALLY says "build module parts xyz and combine them here, and later you can merge the modules in the module lab!" something simple, doesn't have to be much but that critical and "overview" type info seems to be missing.

Keep up the good work!

Also, can we get some bobcombat soon? I'd like Tungsten Carbide tipped tank shells and piercing ammo, to pwn the Big Biters as normal bullets (and cannon shells!) just aren't enough.

I agree with you. This mod is well made and very Complex.

A Video should be very helpful.

Right now i'm trying to read the readme and look at the "end product" that I want, and try to work backwards to identify wtf I actually have to do to get there. There also seems to be helpful byproducts that can essentially (with tree-farm) create unlimited oil too, which I noticed while doing my back-tracking through the processes.

I guess because the bobmod parts are not essential to core gameplay, i've got quite far into this factory without touching any of the special ores (much, I did mine some Galena and start processing the nickel into bars, but that's it. A handy side effect was I could produce batteries far away from my oil processing plant due to the sulfuric acid byproduct of making nickel bars!), what has happened is now my research has been pushing through so far, that I am deep into the high level tech trees of bobs mods without any of the core/expected progression, which leaves me going "where do I start!?"

You start by getting the Ore and smelt it down to what they need :)

I can give u an Download to the Map what i an Alpha Play on you need to use the Smartpack :)

http://www.mediafire.com/download/xokh7 ... needed.zip

Smartmodpack Link is in my Signature

We build some of the Basic on there for Bobs mod but we have many other mods installed too :) look trough it and you can see some of the stuff that we build and u need to do :=) 1 Main thing u need is WOOD :=

Thanks but I have my own assortment of mods installed, and i'll just keep it like that for now. And yes I agree it seems a lot of the base recipes need wood, so i'm glad I got tree farm and have many boxes of wood sitting around atm. I also use the wood for infinite coal which is nice, and part of the "need lots of wood!" thing, because the coal can be fed into the chemical processes in bobs mod

wood... lots and lots of wood... x3

Maybe I need a system to make the stuff made of wood out of synthetic products for later gameplay. I already have Resin from either wood (early game) or heavy oil (late game), but the Circuit boards don't have an alternate non-wood recipe.

Anyway, to get on the topic here... I havn't ventured into creating any videos like youtube walkthroughs or anything like that before, I don't know if my machine would be able to handle it, being several years old now, but what I can try and do is whip up some Graphical flow charts that show some of the processes in my mod, and maybe a few screenshots of working factories, like an electronics chain.

And I also saw mention of bobcombat, it's called bobwarefare, and I started working on it a while ago, but stopped to work on logistics, and then work kept me too busy to actually work on anything.

Okay, awesome. Yes some simple flow charts showing the progression of raw materials towards some of the intermediates would be much appreciated. And to simplify it if you have "segments" of the mod which are fairly well contained, like the chemicals and processes JUST required for circuits, for example, that would help.

During my experimentation and lua-searching I found that you have Nitric Acid, but there is literally nothing that uses it... it seems to be a useless byproduct so-to-speak, but there is a full on recipe to make it on purpose (which I did, while looking for a use for it hehe)

Bobi do you know if the Version 11.6 change something that all mods what are for 11.5 are not working for the 11.6 ? or do they still work ?
and with Dytech there is a way to make them without wood :) just make them out of Copper Iron and Plastic :)

STAMP THAT S***

Yeah, with DyTech and the Overide mod, you can just stamp that s***!

I've not tried 0.11.6 yet, so I can't comment, Hopefully I'll have time to do look at it over the weekend. and start on charts too.

For the charts, Since some such as Tungsten for example have quite an involved chain, I'll probably have them split up so all the Metals, and Electronics are "Endpoints", so if you need Tungsten, I'll just say it needs Tungsten, rather than including the entire Tungsten tree, and have the Tungsten tree on a seperate chart (probably one big chart for how to make ALL metals, and silicon nitride, since these can have inter-mixed processes)

Nitric Acid has no use you say? I say it has no use YET. The entire Nitrogen chain was designed for the Warfare mod, that's how long I've been working on the Warfare mod (though put it on hold to make the expansions to MCI, then Power mod, then make the whole Logistics mod). While I was designing the Nitrogen chain entirely inside the warfare mod, I discovered that Nitrogen has several uses (such as Silicon nitride for Ceramics) and decided to split the tree in half, moving the first half into MCI 0.7.0, and keeping the later half (the Nitrocliceryn or however it's spelled as an explosive, and everything that came after it) in the warfare mod. I guess I chose the Nitric acid as the end point for the first half, because it could be used for other things that I havn't added yet, where everything else in the second half is specialised for explosives.

Ah yes, I see where you are coming from for the Nitrogen chain of processes. Well I stumbled upon probably the only useless combination first up. hehe.

I am about to begin train-transporting in various ores so I'll begin more hardcore smelting and combining in the next few days.

I also noticed that it's hard to track down certain chain/recipes because some items are created as byproducts and therefore do not show up in the recipe list, which is an odd issue surfacing from how you have set up the process chains. The icons are visible in the "required" items for some processes, but when you look around the icons are not visible for directly "creating" them, so you can't easily follow in-game symbols and prompts to discover how the chain works. One example I think was Chlorine, and Sodium Hydroxide (solids) I think they were. Do you know what I mean? It just means it's even more important for a flowchart to visual see the links/processes.

The flow charts you suggest, in the groups, is a good idea! Thanks for putting in the time and effort, it's a great mod and expands on the game a lot, and in a meaningful way. Better roboports/robots, better pipes, and better modules!

Yup! The same could be said for the oil chain in the base game though. Think of my "Salt Water Electrolysis" recipe to produce Hydrogen, Chlorine and Sodium Hydroxide as my equivelent to the Oil Processing recipes from base game.

That is true, about the base game oil industry recipes. Problem is, there are heaps of "lets play" and tutorials and info about those aspects ;)

Here is some progress from this weekend, I have ended up doing all three possible Tungsten products by mistake...

Image

to see the full image, http://oi61.tinypic.com/ff7r79.jpg

To the left of the gold processing, I didn't highlight it on the picture but those checmical plants are getting coal (unlimited thanks to the Treefarm mod!) and water, and turning into Heavy Oil and then cracking all the way through to petroleum gas, and then that is piped up north just a little to the other chem-plants which are producing plastic bars, from coal (from the treefarms nearby).

The train stop in the middle of my factory there is to bring in all the exotic bob-ores, plus some random iron ore that was nearby those ore deposits.

all 3 tungsten products you say? what are all 3 of them?
Tungsten Carbide, although is currently useless, I do have plans for it.
I'm fairly sure everything else has at least one use.

tungsten plate, tungsten carbide, and tungsten-copper alloy plate.

I forget about the Tungsten Copper Alloy. That's another one of those DyTech Compatability ones I added and havn't used. Now that I'm reminded it's there, there's probably a couple of places I could have used it in my recipes, but havn't. It's probably A good T4 alternative to Nitinol, Nitinol being the T4 of the Titanium chain.

well bobingabout, isn't this a nice mission of exploration? While you are making us some nice simple flowcharts you might see areas for improving stuff, or recipes which can be improved. I'm sad that both major chains of processes i've explored so far are mostly unfinished :( :(. I might make a mini-mod that uses stuff from yours, to implement tungsten-carbide ammo for the tank and gun turrets (just super sexy piercing ammo of doom +3, because those big biters need a spanking) . I cannot wait for bobwarfare!!

Can you give me a hint or two on the most useful raw materials/processes I should be going for first? Like, what are the important materials for doing the whole circuit/module builds? I will just focus on getting that stuff sorted out for now I think.. these metals and chemicals are hurting my brain xD

Alimumium is seldom used, but very important for the modules line, because it is used by the module casing, which is a component of every T1 module, and heavily used in the module research facility.
most of the rest of the module stuff is a costomised version of the Electronics chain specifically for Modules.

Tin is quite important for the electronics chain, mostly for tinned copper wire and solder, but is also used in the T2 electronics.
T2+ Electronics use a lot of Silicon in the form of Silicon wafers
Gold is also used in electronics, but not as much
You can either use Tin, Copper and Silver to make solder, but I recomend the alternative, Tin and Lead.

Titanium is probably the most used metal for building things.
Nitinol (Nickel Titanium Alloy) is used a lot too
Tungsten is used in a few areas, but not as much as Titanium. the 2 alloys Tungsten Carbite, and Copper-Tungsten Alloy arn't used.
unalloyed nickel is very rarely used.

Bronze and Brass are used just a little bit, as is glass, maybe a little rubber too if you find the right place, Zinc is only used in alloys.
Gunmetal alloy is only used in the unreleased warfare mod so far, as is lead outside of the optional solder recipe.
