So this forum is now being filtered through http://www.metrext.com? I don't like it and I am blocking all such scripts. Let's not fall down the rabbit hole of analyzing your users, where they come from and what not.

Edit: Gah ssilk, I don't want to be accused of spamming for the url. :x

So I edited also the title -- ssilk

Edit2: The culprit is Tornado addon for Firefox, disable the advertisement.

Please provide some evidence. Right now it looks like you are spamming for that site. :P

Yeah, where are you seeing this? It doesn't show up anywhere in RequestPolicy/Ghostery/NoScript for me.

And I would eat crows before I spam for this sort of thing, and btw, I even spell the thing wrong...some sort of spammer I am.

Uh is right, I don't know why you don't see it.

Yeah I don't have it either. Can you find where it is being called in the source code?

Going by the product's description on the main page, I suspect it's something one of your own extensions/addons tries to do, not something this site is adding.

I suggest your check your own local system and extension settings before accusing the forum of doing something like this.

What? How does that have any bearing? There is indeed a tab for google sheet but that tab is inactive when I launched that Firefox session. That tab is not actually loaded until I click on it.

I don't know where in the html code that url is being called. I would have to dig though the html later as I'm not at my computer currently. Besides, why would Google go through a third party to analyze traffic patterns when Google has its own analytic url?

That is the thing. I have few extensions other than Noscript and this is something I only noticed yesterday. I check this forum daily and I have never seen Noscript complaining until yesterday, which is what threw me off.

Run a virus/malware scan ;)

For what? I don't browse anything other than Factorio related things on that computer. If it was a virus, it would be present on every page. Only the Factorio forum has it, not even the main website has it.

Metrext is an analytic tool for extensions that shows the author of the extension how widely it is used and some other statistics.
I'm guessing you have an extension/addon installed that tracks these stats through metrext.

Could you post a screenshot of your installed addons?

Nothing like this is visible in different browser.
Definitely an addon of sorts.
It might matter that I don't have noscript also - I'm using Ghostery instead.

I will investigate further this issue. I have in addition to Noscript, ABP, Tornado, Fireftp, and session manager. The only suspect is Tornado as the others I have used for years without issue.

It seems the culprit is Tornado. The problem is fixed. :D
