Building:
Charging Station : 2x2 - charges batteries for Mining Bots, as well as batteries in armor slots, allowing one to have no actual power source in the armor but a limited power supply, so that the armor can power down if not charged.
Unloading Bay : unloads cargo from Mining Bots, Automobiles, and other entities with storage space

Entities:
Mining Bot (a ground based robot): High investment, mines in a 3x3 area until cargo is full, or there is nothing left in that spot. in GUI has options for filters using 5 clickable icons, 1 each for Stone, Coal, Iron Ore, Copper Ore, and Raw Wood.
Recipe : Electric drill x1, Steel Chest x1, Exoskeleton x2, Battery MK2 x1

Defense Drone : much like the Distractor capsule, fires laser bursts, but acts on it own accord. Stores/Charges in roboports, and uses construction bot range when identifying threats.
Recipe: Flying Robot Frame x1, Personal Laser Defense x1, Battery MK2 x1

those are both very different than what i am suggesting

i'm saying a new kind of robot that patrols for ores, mines it, and brings it back. also, the charging station can charge a player's power armor with batteries in it.

Doesn't this sort of defeat the point of the game? You would no longer have to scout for and build mining outposts. Just drag a power cable over to the spot, drop a roboport, and a couple storage boxes for them to mine into.

Instead of having them patrol randomly though, I would much rather craft some sort of marker pole that attracts them. They mine in a 3x3 area centered on the marker pole until there is nothing left to mine. It is then up to the player to have provided additional marker poles for them to service, or to relocate the exhausted marker pole to a new spot. This way the player is still involved but relieved from the tedium of setting up miners and belts all the time, and those so inclined can blueprint fields of marker poles to strip mine everything in sight.

That would be smaller than a normal mining drill. Did you mean 10x10?
