Distributor belts

The idea of this belt is that it is fed items through one end, then its settings can be edited to let certain items out in different directions.
This interface would act like the smart inserter, there would be five item filters for each direction. Any unsorted items will go through the direction without filters:

copper
^^^
iron <--- ---> blank
^^^
main imput

and if a filter is put on the input then any unsorted items will build up outside the distributor. The point of distributors it to take up less space than filters by doing more work in less time, they also have the benefit of not using electricity
These distributors are the same size as regular belts with a similar look to assemblers.
Sorry the diagram is a little confusing

Hm but you can already do that with filter inserters pretty much?

i think the filters are good enough, it's also a bit of a challenge to get everything to fit with the filters.. distributors make it more easier. But it could be implemented in the future, who knows.

I agree. There is no need to add filter belts. Better way is to add something giving new features to the game.

If it needed to be powered and cost more than 3 filters and a belt, then it would be interesting. I like the idea of it taking up less space and working faster, but yeah, it's not really needed at the moment.

Half the fun of this game is working out how to use what we have to be most efficient. Too many easy machines would make the game too easy.
