He has probably assumed so due to the perspective of the developers—or at least Kovarex. Multiple different times the engineer has been presented as the sic. bad guy in quite clear terms. There is a plenty of articles about the subject.
How depressingly cliched.

Interesting; that's a disappointingly trite treatment of the topic, but good to know.

The most unfortunate part about all of this is that pre-industrial life is hardly idyllic, as the developer implies, and it wasn't remotely peaceful. The only time anything exists "in harmony with nature" is when "nature" is able to kill it faster than it can spread, and there are literal books worth of incidents where some minor fluctuation in the weather or environment caused massive ecological disruption - such as a random wind storm knocking down a higher than average number of trees in one area, resulting in an explosion in insect population (due to increased hiding spots from birds) which caused near total destruction of the forest when all the remaining trees were stripped bare.

The whole concept that nature is magically harmonious and peaceful is a horrible insult and disservice both to us as human beings and the natural world in the first place, because pretending something is what it is not is always a slap in the face.

i wouldnt be totally against it, i mean, FISH, right?

you spot some aliens, they run towards you, you start running away, then you drop some fish, and they pause, and eat it, and walk away..
gives you an excuse to carry fish... carry enuf, cause a pack of 12 biters aint gonna share 1 fish, the rest will still mob you.
and then you got the BIG boysd... better drop 2 or 3 for one them..

gives a thought, what about more aliens that AREN'T biters... they gotta eat something... guarantee they arent herbivores.. not they way THEY attack..
hunt some deer like al;iens, watch out for bear like aliens... and what about storage? maybe a fish would last 7 days in a chest.
but you need to research ICE Chest.. to make them last 2 weeks..
and then refridgeration chest, to make them last a month.
so you would have to constantly hunt, to make sure you have meat for them to eat/trade with.. can you reduce your poluttion before the next attack?
do you havbe enuf fish/meat to keep trading with them?
are they evovling ? if so you need even MORE fish/meat to kepe them at bay.

could be interesting, even if an optional path (turn on/off at start of game)

Yeah, I am sorry, somehow managed to mess up the formating, perhaps a CTrl+Z too much ;)
