Super +1. This is a really necessary sci-fi element for station building.

I am surprised that no one has made a mod for this.
Space Station (Space platform transfer)

i wish they would have implemented space stations that would act similar as to planets do right now.
Where rockets would send stuff up from the planet to their space station and the station would act as distributor between spaceships/platforms.
It would allow to transfer items in between space platforms aswell as making it more realistic and intuitive.

My "first" thought would be a logistic filter list. You specify demands and limits for items and they would be exchanged between platforms too. So you need a filter list "demand" and "provide", with minimum+maximum value. The planet's hub will first get items, then neighboured platforms. A minimum will preserve a distinct amount for the platform, maximum offload exceeding amounts resp. request and stop requesting. There is already a filter for planets, you might only add the filters platforms plus "any source".
But thinking isn't concluded yet.

+1 to the suggestion
Same as many others I was surprised by lack of this option in the game. After 300 hours spent in Space Age I understand it is not necessary, but I would still utilize it for several of my in-game projects.
I would not mind if there would be cost related - same as for drop pods to surface, it should still be negligible compared to rockets going from surface to orbit.
For anybody crawling through this thread - there is now a mod for this -
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/orbital-transfer , however it uses a special chest which could be exploited and simplify you platform logistics (at least in orbit).

I scanned, but I didn't notice the obvious argument is that it's bizarrely unrealistic to not have in-space transfers. The technological complexity of between-ship transfers is certainly no harder than surface-to-ship; the logistics are orders of magnitude smaller; and it's just a really weird mechanism that feels more like a bug than an intentional balancing mechanism. Sure, gravity restrictions -- while still difficult to believe -- are acceptable; but having no mechanism for transferring items between platforms around the same planet, given all of the other fantastic technology marvels in the Factorio universe, is baffling.

Yea, was thinking on the same idea, that should be implemented, transfer between platforms +1

Ive found a mod that allows this, its called Orbital Transfer. Its not perfect but it gets the job done.

Sending objects between space platforms

What:
The ability to send materials between space platforms which are in the same orbit rather than just to the surface.
Why:
Under normal circumstances to send anything between platforms requires dropping it to the planet and then relaunching on a new rocket. For general conveyance of planet specific items like foundries or Tesla turrets this mean you need to either have a ship shuttle items to all the planets, an interrupt to send when it’s requested, or you need to centralize them and launch to space a second time. If instead you could transfer between ships then you could have say a Vulcans and gleba dedicated ship which has requests for the other, but both only travel to Nauvis and could serve as a direct source while both are in orbit together (at any planet).
This also enables building anything in orbit using imported supplies without sort of flying over a ship and then overhauling it into being a station. This is particularly relevant when first reaching planets before they have established rocket launch capacity.
