The blueprint editor is more a preview with some very basic edit functions.
For editing a blueprint, you are better off placing it somewhere as ghosts, where is space, and use the normal building functions.
The blueprint can then be updated with the replace content function

I'm not sure how far it makes sense to replicate the building functions in the blueprint preview, but zooming could be beneficial

@Koub and other mods - if you have the ability to tag the devs somehow - this thread and versions of it have apparently been going since 2017... That's 8 years and counting of people asking for this quality of life features - and the threads APPARENTLY get merged every so often, which also apparently has the minor side effect of a few stray nonsense posts being included in the merge.

Someone mentioned "just paste it down and edit it by hand away from the bots" - been there, done that, radar coverage becomes an issue - especially if you're off planet(Space Age DLC, WOO!) and can't use yourself as a radar node so you need to build in coverage with bots, leaving a radar and power poles in the way of the blueprint being edited.

Maybe an alternative, give us a button in the blueprint editor to have access to the blueprint lab space within the vanilla game - leave everything running as though we're on another surface, let us tweak the blueprint and save it, and blueprints, blueprint books, deconstruction planners, and upgrade planners should be the only things that are accessible in and out of the blueprint lab - to prevent it being used to cheat in items when not playing on creative.
