I just placed a bunch of accumulators in my base and when the sun goes down, instead of discharging the accumulators, my steam engines activate to generate power instead. The accumulators work fine in a disconnected electrical network with no steam, but won't work when in the system with steam.

Thanks for the report. That is intended. Accumulators are a last-resort power provider.
