Thruster fluid working very strangely

Can somebody explain what is going on here?

This is before I insert the last pipe:

This is after:

Why is this thing destroying all my orange fuel?

Thrusters have a Fluid buffer - not just pipes. So the middle Thruster likely has some Thruster Oxidizer accidentally stored in the Thruster Fuel side. You can click on the Pipe and then use the "Trash can" icon to flush the system.

You can also double-check for accidental cross-connections over the entire Ship, not just the Cropped part of the screenshot.

Good Luck!

I don't think so, I removed and replaced the middle thruster before placing the pipe, with same results. Also why would it buffer a different fuel in the orange exit? That would be really silly.

Also how can it have cross connection elsewhere, if the problem only shows up at that spot?

This looks like a bug to me.

Edit:

Magical liquid switching. I could probably exploit this to make fuel from thin air.

Good luck with that. The fluid is simply in the thrusters fluid boxes which you aren't seeing. There's no fuel from thin air.

Essentially: you've mixed your pipes up and now have the wrong fluid in the pipes. Click one of the pipes to see what fluid(s) are in it.

Nope.

After:

Blue fuel went to magical land.

Also, please explain to me how I 'mixed' my pipes. I don't see any mixing in these pictures.

I would like to point to your attention that a user mentionned :
You can also double-check for accidental cross-connections over the entire Ship, not just the Cropped part of the screenshot.
Alternatively a savegame could help to see the full fluid network. Although it is also possible that an erroneous connection was made previously and removed, which could cause fluid mixing with no apparent causes on a save game.

How to fix fluid contamination problems:
  1. Place all the pipes you wanted, and don't worry about the contents for now.
  2. Look at the pipe network highlighted on hover and make sure it is highlighting only the right pipes and not any of the wrong pipes.
  3. Click on a pipe in the fuel pipe network and click the trash button to flush any unwanted fluid.
  4. Click on a pipe in the oxidizer pipe network and click the trash button to flush any unwanted fluid.
  5. Check each one again to make sure there is none left.
If that doesn't fix it, then there is probably an unwanted cross-connection somewhere. In that case, please post a picture of the entire platform, or at least the entire fuel and thruster section, without any pipes going out of the picture, so we can examine it carefully for problems. It is not sufficient to just see what color the pipes are.

It’s easy to miss these things. I recently had one of my platforms stop working because I'd accidentally put a fuel tank so that it touched an output port of an oxidizer plant.

Nor do any of us, but that doesn't preclude mistakes outside of these pictures.
