Hi all,

I have this error message on loading a V1.1 game into V 2.0.47 build 82606, win64:
Loaded invalid value for StrongTypeDef 0

Any chance to fix this with a text editor?

It's save file corruption without a way to recreate it, so not attractive to put dev time in it. I would not wait for it and instead start a new game.

All my save files are corrupt then?!? I tried some, cant load any one.

By the way, I m a software developer too, I can imagine how much effort it would be. One line at the right place, 1-2 hours to find that place.
This would help lots of people that just doesn't ask for help...

Corrupt save files are not interesting in themselves. They indicate something went very wrong either before saving, during saving, or after saving while it was on disk.

Unless someone can show it’s game code causing it to go wrong (this has happened twice in 10 years of Factorio work), the corruption is likely caused by failing or failed hardware - outside of our control.

Saves are not supposed to be corrupt and the game does all it can to ensure they aren’t. If they do anyway then that’s also outside of our control. We aren’t in the business of attempting to predict and try to salvage all possible ways the save could be corrupt when it’s not supposed to be corrupt to begin with.

I m absolutely sure that the disc is ok. It is not a hardware problem.

Anyway, is there any way I could play the latest 1.x release?

If you're using Steam, right click on Factorio -> properties -> betas and you can choose basically any version. If you're using the version from the website, go to https://factorio.com/download/archive.

The latest 1.1.110 could load the file -> It is not corrupt.

2.0 is not crashing because it cannot load it, it is crashing because the consistency check is failing so you don't waste time on a corrupted save.

this should be worth it
