[2.0.60] "Removed recipes" message after Steam auto-update

After a long hard day at work at the business-factory, I get home and get ready for a long hard night at work at the Pentapod Egg factory, but after loading my save from last night I got ominous-seeming message:

Migrated content:

Removed recipes:
  • copy-paste-tool-recycling
  • cut-paste-tool-recycling
As these are very-much internal items/entities within Factorio that the end-user player (with no Lua/modding experience) should ever have to know about; yet the game is choosing to inform me that something's changed, therefore I must conclude that this must be important - or potentially important - but I honestly have no idea (e.g. has my save been subtly corrupted? if this is a benign rules/entities change in the 2.0.60 update then why show any message at all? Etc etc).

The game informs you that a migration was performed and recipes were removed, if that information is relevant is completely up to you. It happened because the new version does not have the recipes the version your save was created with had.

Right - but my game was 100% stock Space Age, with no mods - which should mean that there's no need to show this message at all.

So basically I'm reporting a bug insofar as Factorio is unnecessarily spooking users like myself - if that makes sense.

I think this message is normal and not a bug.

If it bothers you, you can switch to using installed version, rather than Steam version. That way, updating will be more interactive process and you will know what's happening.

Alternatively, disable autoupdate of this game in Steam. Update will never surprise you, you will have time to read changelog and expect changes and some messages from the game upon first launching new executable.

Steam doesn't give me that option - now it only lets me choose between 2 options:

1. "Update game preemptively, even if you never play it".
2. "Only update the game when you launch it".

There's no option to say "Stop updating this game" anymore.

"Only update the game when you launch it"

I guess this option will have to suffice - when prompted, you will update & run the game, knowing that the game may give you some technical messages about converting your save to the newest version.
