I was wondering, what I should do to this? How would I even report this discord? Just curious.

You can report it here. It wil bring some attention for sure, and maybe a resolution if required.

Thing is, the discord mods felt ill trained, while it is the "unofficial" discord promoted not by wube, I was under the impression it was an official discord due to its rulesets and some had the "wube" tag next to the mods names. Which gave me the impression it was the official discord.

I presented to them that the game needed some features to allow alternative playstles than just mods, and quite frankly, pYanodon is to easy imo as a mod set. Rampant was suggestion along to the Pyanodon mod, but again, I have tried that also. I truly was asking for a harder factorio experience from a logistical and differential viewpoint, but the community just hated me for even asking the question. I didn't really care for the opinions of the mods nor anyone in that specific discord, which resulted in inexperienced moderators and their own opinions.

However, I did felt attacked... i have been playing this game since 2018, I created megabases and gigabases, i don't show them to the world at all, i mostly do it for own satisifying experiences.

I also have created: belt, train, car on belts, robot bases, and numerous other bases to this extent.

What truly tripped me up, was that they did say(after the fact in a ticket) that they were an unofficial discord for factorio. Now, I know, but the simple fact is that this discord needed to have the rules or even the description in the server to say "unofficial discord". It threw me in a loop. Because of these reasons, it became apparent to me that they were a reddit server mostly.

Cool story. However, It will remain a story until you share links, screenshots and other details. I have no idea what server and what Discord group are you talking about, so cannot help.

If this is harmful to the brand, Wube could complain and get this unofficial server pulled out of Discord because they are imporsonating Factorio and using their intellectual property. Nowhere they mentioned its unofficial. And Wube badges look especially sinister.

I would say it definitely would hurt the brand, and while it is on the factorio website(now that the inexperienced mods didn't plaster it), along with the fact that they also claim to be the reddit's mod team for the factorio reddit(no official reddit exists) I think it would hurt wube in the long run if a person impersonated a wubesoft employee who was actually not a wubesoft employee nor discord.

Discord is not mentioned here. I doubt that the Wube team is unaware of this “unofficial” community, but it is not the type of thing that I would advise participating in. You can send any formal complaints to the email address mentioned above.

We are aware of that discord (several of us are even in it, myself included). If they felt they needed to ban you, that’s their prerogative.

While I understand it is their "prerogative" to "Back", I would rather not be apart of it. However, the concerning portion is that someone would back such a discord, where it is not enforced by official wubesoft employees. If you choose to back them, that is at your discretion, but the sheer fact is: they aren't truly wubesoft employees. While I understand your reasoning behind it, it would be better traced to a point where you probably shouldn't back a community discord associate with non-employees from this standpoint.

That is something that bothers me... And while you may agree with their "prerogative" I still find it slightly concerning from a gamer that has enjoyed your game since may of 2018. Concerns should be noted. But that's again at your discretionary ideology what YOU do with this discord.

The problem truly is, that.

Thing is, I have contributed to the Linux Kernel. I also have programming experience in ASM, C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Lua, and Oddball languages you couldn't even fathom to begin to comprehend.

I enjoy the gentoo distro, but I think, a fine line between programming for https://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licens ... .0.en.html project vs a paid copyright program is different.

However, I do have to admit that factorio devs presenting more features for the linux kernel type distros vs windows/mac is a noble thing.

Hi, one of the (unofficial) Factorio Discord server moderators here.
I only feel the need to chime in because anyone who reads this thread will only ever see one side of the story otherwise, which I don't feel is fair.
This will be my only message in this thread, I do not wish to continue this conversation past this point, and I request that nobody harass this individual for any reason.

Nowhere do we claim to be Wube. We also don't claim to not be Wube, so I can see how the confusion could arise.
That being said, it's the largest Factorio server by far, so I think it's pretty reasonable to call it "The Factorio server".
If you're unsure as to who's Wube and who's not Wube, you can check Wube's About page.
You can also check the sidebar for the user list, where all of the developers have a red dev role, and none of the non-developers do.

There's also a shit ton of non-moderator community members with the "wube" tag next to their name, because that's what the server tag is.
Server tags are a discord feature that lets users identify with a single server they choose, and it just so happens to be that some of the moderators of the (unofficial) Factorio discord choose to identify with the (unofficial) Factorio server. Surprising, I know. Factorio doesn't really have any other "core" words that would fit in four characters (or technically more if you count things like "æ"), so we picked "Wube" to be the tag. If Wube requests that we stop using their name as a minor tag feature for users to identify with, we will remove it and most likely change it to something else. (Edit: I'm being told we already asked Klonan, the Wube community manager, if it was okay to use "Wube" as the server tag, and he said it was fine.)

You, having zero previous chat history, dumped a wall of text in the main chat of the server with a plethora of complaints, the main one being, and I quote, "But my major gripe is not the game itself, but the community that backs it." Anyone who wants to take a look at the message for themselves can do so here.
I'm not sure what sort of response you were expecting; Clearly it doesn't seem like you wanted any sort of discussion or conversation to follow, as indicated by your followup messages: "Idc for other opinion bro" and "Nor do i care for a mods opinion".
The rest of the "discussion", of which the interpretation is entirely subjective to the observer, is what I personally would politely describe as meaningless drivel.
This is not the kind of behavior we want to foster in the Factorio community, and you were muted for having no clear sign of stopping.

For those unfamiliar with how the Factorio discord operates in terms of moderation, we rarely ban anyone outright, and anyone that has been muted is given the opportunity to create an appeal ticket if they believe they should be unmuted. I think you can guess where I'm heading with this statement.
In your appeal ticket, you called us trash, insinuated that we are "antigay", "woke", and "superior ideology", claimed you are popular on the livestream website Kick & that you wouldn't mod us on your Kick stream, and informed us of you sending a support ticket to Wube.
- Trash? Fair enough. Usually insulting the moderators in an appeal ticket doesn't lead to being unmuted, but something tells me that wasn't what you were really after anyway.
- All the antigay claims? I'm not sure where you would deduce that sort of thing. Actually, I do have an idea why you would think that, as your discord profile's about me claims you're a "Masculine Openly Gay Dude", so any criticism or consequences must be because we're homophobic, right? Well, the server icon (at the time of this incident) has a rainbow logo from pride month still, several months past its conclusion, and in fact our server owner is trans. You were informed of this in the appeal ticket as well, which was barely acknowledged.
- Popular Kick streamer? I don't see how that has anything to do with dumping a rant into a server and, *ahem*, "trolling", for lack of a better word and despite whatever intent you may or may not have had, and judging by this whole incident I don't think I'd want to be a moderator for your stream anyway, much less on Kick.
- Support ticket? Okay, whatever. Klonan can deal with that however he chooses, it's not up to me. Whatever intimidation tactics I assume you're trying to employ haven't seemed to have any effect.

The rest of the ticket was a continued back and forth of how you think the game should be harder, so we directed you to the suggestions subforum so your feedback was much more likely to be seen, compared to an appeal ticket where only (unofficial) Factorio server moderators can see it. This is also where you started to complain about how we represent Wube (we don't) and how the server is apparently mislabeled (it's not), to the point where you demanded a change to the welcome-rules channel (we won't).

The second appeal ticket you opened after we closed the first one for continuing to waste both yours and our time was more of the same (this is the screenshot they posted, for any onlookers), so we gave you a week timeout. Was this fair? I think so, but once again that is subjective to the observer. You're still not banned from the (unofficial) Factorio server.

The third ticket you opened from an alt account brand new to the server was a screenshot of your email to Wube complaining about how we're not labeled as an unofficial server. Again, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish with this.

Lastly, if it weren't for the extensive "discussion" on the (unofficial) Factorio server, this would tell me everything I need to know about your character: "I also have programming experience in [...] and Oddball languages you couldn't even fathom to begin to comprehend."

So that's where we sit right now, in case anyone was wondering. Again, I'm not going to continue this conversation here, hopefully this clears up any doubts that might be had about this thread. I hope everyone reading this has a nice day, and screw it, have a nice tomorrow as well.

I think that's very misleading that this unofficial Discord server uses WUBE as a tag for their admins and they don't include "unofficial" word anywhere.
I think Wube should crackdown on use of their IP in such a manner.

Disclaimer, I am not using their Discord server, not interested.

I was confused for a minute when the WUBE tag appeared for some users on Discord and I actually thought as well this is a tagging for a WUBE employee. However I discovered very soon it's just a new Discord feature for tagging yourself Discord-wide with your favorite Discord server.

In my opinion the naming is unfortunate, because the visuals associate yourself with WUBE, not with Factorio. Unfortunately there are just 4 characters allowed, so I understand the choice.
Personally, I would rather have something like FACT as tag, or F, or FA, and I don't tag my user on Discord with the current Factorio server tag as long as it is named WUBE because 1. nobody knows WUBE but everyone knows Factorio and 2. I don't want to be mistaken as WUBE representative.

However that's clearly not the main issue here, it's just a small confusion about a name.
