Hello! 1st time poster in this forum. Also, English is not my first language.

I just now switched OS from MacOS to Ubuntu Budgie, and now I can't even start Factorio, it crashes on startup. The logo shows and the startup sound is played, then it crashes somewhere between 40-65% on the loading bar.
In desperation I tried different methods of extract the tarball, although I didn't expect a different result. The log files are somewhat different, though.

In another similar post it was suggested to change a line in the config.ini file, but I can't seem to find a file with that name? config-path.cfg is the closest one.
I have -very- limited knowledge of coding, but I am equal parts brave and dumb, so I am not very afraid of changing lines in a file if someone guides me. I also don't know what the differences in the log files mean.

I previously played the game without issue on MacOS, the problem arose when switching to Linux so I am inclined to blame the OS.

Thanks for the report. Unfortunately, the crash appears to be within OpenGL itself, so there isn't really much I can do to help you. I suspect that Linux doesn't properly support your hardware.

Thank you for the response, it sent me (deep!) down a rabbit hole of installing graphic drivers. You suspected correctly, and I thank you for your insight.
Long story short, a different OS is probably the way to go.

EDIT: Switched to Linux Mint, worked like a charm even though it uses the same driver.

Mint is a solid choice, but can be somewhat problematic due to it still using X11 instead of Wayland. If this becomes an issue for you, then I'd recommend Fedora. Most of us at Wube use Fedora and it's pretty good.
