Once upon a time (pre 2.0.7), you could get fish from space. That has been removed, from what i understand) to line up with the space age fish farming, and if you run out of fish in water, you're basically done for fish gathering. Sure, if you play with a map with lots of water you'll be fine, but if you don't? There's no way to get more fish, unless I buy space age to fish farm? Or am I missing something?

What do you need fish for?

Getting back fish when sending up science only was a joke...

There's always another ocean to overfish, just beyond the horizon. (Quite unlike on Earth...)

You need fish for spidertrons i think even in 2.0 , I didn't realize the fish from space was gone, you can run out if you play with water "only in starting area", mods are nice for that.

I still think fish shouldn't be in spidertron recipe, best joke are short
