Why?
If a splitter faces north, the input is in the bottom, and the UI input is in the top. And the output on top, UI on bottom. But, the priority to or from the left or right match the physical Splitter.If the splitter is facing south, the UI is vertically the same, but the left and right priority and backwards.
If the two elements were swapped, regardless of rotation, mentally rotating it to face north would always have the UI elements correspond to both position and direction.
