This happens from time to time (about every 1-2 hours gameplay) ... no more specific information

Hello, I had some theory how this could happen and fixed few too strict rules, that would have to be removed anyway in the multiplayer. It should be fixed if 0.8.4, if it persists, feel free to report it again.

I just encountered this in 0.8.5, though I can't duplicate it.
I was testing an infinite storage chest (basically using glob to keep the item count and only keep x amt in chest) and was shift clicking between chest and player inventory, started walking away and tried to press 'e' to close the menu and "Input handler inconsistency"...
I'll update/edit if I encounter it again.

It has happened to me as well (0.8.4 & 0.8.5). I have one menu up, and suddenly i will give me this error message and dump me to desktop.

These are speculations:
1: Happens when CPU usage is too high and game time is slowed down.
2: Happens when too many keys are pressed at one time (like walking diagonally, while opening and closing menus), most keyboards do not support having too many keys pressing at once. Side effect of this?

It seems to only happen when I'm really busy with moving while doing inventory management.

Hello, thank you for the additional info, we found out what is the problem and it will be fixed in 0.8.6:
Fixed crash when player closed the container in the same moment when it was autoclosed because of moving away from the container.

I just had this one in [0.8.6], so can't confirm it's fixed. It was while viewing assembling machine content, moving and pressing E, although I don't know what exactly happened.

Did it crash nicely (with message) or just crashed?

Just had that crash, and yes, the popup appeared.
