I've wanted to report this for quite a long time. Crafting red and green wire always puts them to the inventory, never to hotbar, so every time i craft 2 cables, i have to put them to hotbar manually in order to place them. As cables are usable, they should go to free space in hotbar after crafting.

Btw, i've had 1 crash on 0.8.4 so far, but didn't find what caused it yet.

You don't actually have to put them on the hotbar, you can just pick them out of your inventory, close it and place. Though I'd probably agree that if you are crafting them you're probably wanting to use them to connect to a logistic network.

You can middle click into the hot bar, then you can choose, which item is put into this stack. A little bit complicated in use, but usable.

The usual use-case is that i have 9 fixed slots and 1 empty slot for various craft-and-plant items.

I agree it should go to the hotbar, we will change it.
