Hi I'm a new player and started a "New Game" it took me a while to hang of things but after a about 4 days of playing and reading i got into the swing of things, id just got my train set up and running, oil refinaries going and was pretty much well on the way to getting more advanced items but just when i was enjoying playin with my new train set I suddenly got message saying id been defeated but i had peaceful mode ticked, i had been playing for 97 hours in total. Why did it end so syddenly ? makes me a bit appprehensive about starting a new game and putting all the hard work in not knowing when its going to be swept from under me, Can someone shed some light please

D..Did you get hit by a train?

Almost certainly you got run over your by your train. Reload your save game or recent auto-save.

Hiya and yep i reloaded twice and got same message, i dont understand it,

World save?

I'm new so i relied on the auto save feature. Is it normal for the game to do that ?

You should save manually every time you quit in case you play a different world and it overwrites the autosaves.

Ahhh yep manual save, Yes i do that before bed time and if am away. Weird thing is Ive had a few reboots this morning and ive just loaded it up now and and Ive been playing about an hour and Its been ok now so really dont know why it ended for me like it did.

Well it only ends if you die, and you only die from an enemy attack or getting run over. You said " i was enjoying playin with my new train set", so it sounds like a train ran you over. This can happen if you get out of a train that is still moving.

Did you see Klonan's question? Did you get hit by a train?

1) Are you sure you were not hit by a train
2) can you attach the last auto save before you die, so that we can try and guess ?

yes i did see the question and no i wasnt hit by a train, I had loaded it up twice and same thing but after some reboots I loaded up yesterday evening and it seemed fine and played till 1 am this morning.

not sure how to attatch saves etc,, im new to factorio and yep there were no trains around,
well its working fine now so i guess we'll never know.

The same happened suddenly to me - probably that's a bug
