I have a question.
Are the item icons done, or will they be updated as well?
When I resize the UI using the slider, the icons distort weirdly (especially their edges), as if they were never designed to have their size altered in the first place.
With my old monitor this wasn't an issue, as the UI is good in 1080p, but now that I'm on a 4k monitor it's sooo tiny in its default state

We would like to have 64X64 icons for everything eventually, so we can scale it up to 200%.
I'm not sure when this happens, but we make all new icons in 64X64 already to avoid extra work.

Does this mean it will be finally possible to launch steam version of factorio without having to launch steam?

2-3 months. v13 will have a way to help locate people via a server list, but the core mutliplayer system I believe remains the same. Maybe you can find an open server closer to you, or some people to play with that are okay with a higher Latency setting?

Is there a headless .12.29 build for linux? Every time my steam updates the game I end up having to reinstall the headless server :'( wish it was easier.

Will there be steam multiplayer integration in the future, allowing you to join friends games through steam like the way Terraria did it?

No, you still need to have Steam running to launch the Steam version of Factorio. But in older versions the game crashed if Factorio and Steam couldn't connect properly, now you get a message telling you that restarting Steam usually fixes the issue.

There is a high chance of it, but we can't never be sure if something else won't fail :)

Kovarex, I know that this is a "dangerous" question, but anyway: Any guesstimate on the arrival of 0.13? Two or three weeks, or more in the two or three months area? I would understand a "when it's done" though :)
