Power Switch from Experimental 0.13.6 not Working?

Can someone please explain how I can use the power switch? I tried essentially the set-up that's shown in https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-115, but it doesn't seem to want to function.

Here you can see my basic setup to be able to switch radars on and off, with the power switch in a visibly "Off" position.

However, even with the power switch changed to "On", the power switch still does not supply power.

Power isn't the limiter either.

The only thing I can think of is the fact that the power switch in the devblog is connected via standard power cables, but I couldn't find a way to do this manually, and it doesn't seem to connect automatically. As you can see below, it doesn't connect to any of the 3 poles.

As this is a survival save loaded with the intent to show off the issue I'm having, I don't have Substations to test with, as they would be a marginal waste of steel and red circuits in a world where iron, copper, and oil are scarce, and aliens are bountiful. (Not to mention a hundred blue science that could be invested elsewhere!)

You need to use copper cables to connect power networks to both sides of switch.

Thank you! I didn't even realize that those could be used to place cables at all!
