Not sure how to reproduce it, because I followed the same steps few times but crashed only once (of course probably after I type this I will manage to do it).

1. Ride in train.
2. Have research that has some progress.
3. Remove it by clicking X.
4. Add something else by double-clicking on the research icon.
5. Quickly try to exit research menu.

Crash happened somewhere between adding new research and trying to quit.
Cannot say for sure, I was not paying attention
