[0.17.12] Being killed during cutscene deadlocks the tutorial

After researching 'Escape pod blackbox' you are told to collect your equipment and escape to the east. I did so, but I was super greedy and gathered some belts and stuff from right next to some biters. I ended up accidentally kiting biters to the east with me and was at something like half health when the next cutscene started. After the cutscene ended I could not see my character, any objectives, or otherwise interact with the inventory. Deadlock! (Pun slightly intended.)
