underground belt issue?

As of the most recent update underground belts can cross with out interfering with each other. Is this intended because it is a neat feature and makes things more complicated and easy at the same time?

It was there from the beginning and it was always intended

More weirdly, you can overlap different speed underground belts in the same direction, useful if you need more than 2 belt lanes per tile.
