Maybe not exactly a bug, but I consider it bad behavior.

When you click on a URL in the game, e.g. the "visit mod on mod portal" on the mod detail view, the link opens silently in the background in a new tab of your favorite browser.

What I would expect it to do is to open the Steam Overlay, and open the URL there (assuming the game is launched via Steam). It feels very awkward to click the link and nothing seems to happen, since the user gets no feedback of a browser opening up in the background. For non-Steam users, maybe the focus should switch to the browser, when clicking on a URL.

Like you said, the steam overlay wouldn’t be too helpful to the 10% non-steam users and even provided the other platforms had some kind of overlay, completely useless to users getting the game directly from the website. Something as simple as a link should be handele homogeneously, like opened in a browser.

Tip: you can enable minimize on focus loss in the graphics options (works in windowed and fullscreen mode) and definitely not miss the newly opened tab.
