[0.11.13] No trees when "Water only in starting area"

I have been trying for hours to get trees in a new map with "Only in starting area" water setting. I have never managed to get normal trees with that setting. I did get some with other water settings, but never with "Water only in starting area". There are dead tree doodads, but no trees.

I play vanilla Factorio, with last unstable version (0.11.13)
I also have "auto-explored" the area around with the following console command and I found not a single tree :

/c game.forces.player.chart({lefttop = {x = -2048, y = -2048}, rightbottom = {x = 2048, y = 2048}})
I assume it's a bug, as there is no mention anywhere that this water setting means no trees, but if it's WAI, then I'll have to do with it :roll: .

Not sure if bug or intended, but from what I've seen having water in starting area only will generate mostly desert terrain, and trees don't grow in that terrain, so that explains why there's no trees around.

Whether mostly desert terrain is intended or not is another question. :P
