The developers actually know 3-6 months in advance that a new release will be out in a month.kylone wrote:The developers generally know a about a month or so in advance that a (new) experimental release will be out.

Re: Friday Facts #236 - Building a rollup
I think that terraforming the ground we live on, is such a simple concept that has been around since man kind started to settle this world for real. It would be nice to be able to do it here, to better control pollution and generally make the look and feel of the base better. I'd just like to run a...

I made a mod that removes beacons and rebalances modules to compensates. Really more of a proof of concept but you might want to give it a try, V. https://mods.factorio.com/mod/SimpleModules I never really liked beacons to be honest. They act like magic. What is the reasoning behind them? What do t...

Re: Friday Facts #235 - 0.16 stable
Arachnophobia is not a joke, why would any developer introduce spiders to alienate part of potential customers? Do you even have Arachnophobia? Mine at least doesn't trigger on mechanical spiders. I have to agree though that rideable humanoid mechs might fit the setting better. Those 8 legs make me...

I really would welcome some kind of train tunnel as that would make the rail network much more powerful and prevent a lot of situations where jams might occur.Rinin wrote:So, no any plans about trains?

I've gone through the list again and there is one item missing: "Neuter the bots."
What about the bots and belts topic? Is everything to stay as-is till at least 1.0?
What after 1.0? Will you fork factorio into two branches like 1.0-stable-maintenance and post-1.0-development?

True. Only people with arachnophobia will understand. 8 legs is evil. The spidertron can have 6 or 10 legs but not 8, please. It really triggers arachnophobia.Avezo wrote:Arachnophobia is not a joke, why would any developer introduce spiders to alienate part of potential customers?

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)
Bots, belts, beltbots, botbelts, in what shape do their souls meet? Flying carpets! Let me explain. On the ground it's a belt, a botbelt . The items move with it. As it reaches the takeoff location it transforms into a beltbot that flies liek a flying carpet to the next touchdown location where it t...

I feel like the privacy issue is kind of a slippery slope. Sure, you're not evil and I trust you very much but this may change in the future. Why not collect a bit more data? Why not send telemetry every now and then? It surely will improve the game if you know what options, maps and features player...

Do you have an affected Ryzen processor yourself for running tests on? Nope, we were thinking of possibly getting one. But the issue is still very rare and we will most probably not be able to trigger the crash on our computer. Last time we got and AMD computer with weird hardware we did a few test...

Re: Friday Facts #230 - Engine modernisation
I know I shouldn't feel this way about an awesome game, but how can it be more important to change rendering engine when it works almost flawlessly than to fix the games belt problems? We've been waiting since mid december last year now for some kind of quick fix. The saying is "don't get high...
