I'm Writing a Live Novel About Factorio [Offline]
We are currently Offline . The next Live Writing Session will start at: N/A This was an idea sprung to me by one of the folks in the /r/Factorio subreddit. I haven't had much material to write about recently so I decided to embark on the task on completing a novel fan-fic about Factorio. Also, it's...

Re: Planting of Trees
I think this would be a good idea. Because aside from the above mentioned, trees also absorb pollution. So, planting trees around your base should reduce the pollution (somewhat) as well.

Re: Upgradable Inventory Sizes
Can call it, Quantum bag research, or something. Haha, I think our mystery Factory guy already has one of those if he can fit a thousand or so steel plates in his bag along with a few stacks of iron, gears and even a car! I can imagine, such a bag that can contain all those stuff should be upgradab...

Upgradable Inventory Sizes
I went on the liberty to look for an actual suggestion for upgradable inventory sizes, but it seems like no one has started a thread like that before. If there is already a suggestion like this, Mr. Moderator, please take this down and kindly link me to it. Anyways, this idea is pretty straightforwa...

Re: [0.12.20] Smoke Lag Spike
I've noticed a lot of lag trouble as well around steam engines/boilers in my factories. I'm forced to disable smoke on my laptop. My desktop has a beefier GPU and seems to be OK on the same save. Laptop: i7-5600U @ 2.6ghz, 8gb ram, Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, Intel HD Graphics 5500, running 64 bit fact...

Re: [0.12.20] Smoke Lag Spike
Further testing shows the GPU load skyrocketing from 4% to 99%, and the Bus Interface load from 1% also to 99%, when the spikes occur. Is it possible that the smoke animation is overloading the GPU? It doesn't look very complex (to me) to begin with. I'd imagine the animation takes little to no vir...

Re: Friday Facts #118 - Improving productivity
Well, we are after your money, obviously, but we want to make a mutually good trade :) But of course! You guys need sustenance, haha! I can tell this is gonna be one heck of an adventure—an adventure to Factorio 1.0 and beyond. Steam is a great milestone; a big one. Can't wait to see how much the c...

Re: Friday Facts #118 - Improving productivity
It's the multiplayer bro. IMO the devs think that once multiplayer works right enough to be on par with other steam games that make use of the steam friends/server systems, (client/server browser, laghiding, multiplayer objectives etc) then they can make some real bank and establish "street cr...

Re: [0.12.20] Smoke Lag Spike
You can turn off smoke in Options > Graphics I've done so, for now. But I'm still curious as to why smoke was fine pre-0.12 but now anchoring down performance. To be frank, I like the smoke animation. It gives off more impact on pollution and the whole "Factorio" vibe. I'd hate to have it...

[0.12.20] Smoke Lag Spike
Ever since I updated to 0.12 I've been having these weird smoke lag spikes. FPS drops a little bit when faced with furnace smoke, but it drops significantly when over Steam Engines (where I guess the most smoke is). For this reason, I had build my Steam Engines way off my main factory so as to not o...
