I was playing normally until I found a group of spitters within my radar range that were just sitting in the woods and kept attacking the ground:

Are you sure? I've tried it with the latest version of factorio (v. 14) and Foreman and it seems to work. I suspect you're using Factorio 0.12 because they changed how rails work so there is now a different entity for them which the old version can't import.

Well, I see three solutions to your problem.
1. Play in peaceful-mode
If you are annoyed by the combat aspect of the game you can just turn it off. While you still need alien artifacts for research only the biters you attack will be angry. The rest will ignore you as long as they have no contact ...

I'm currently playing a save I call "Apocalypse" in which I use RSO with biter settings maxed out and very low resource settings. i can confirm that this is also the case with a double headed train without wagons. A single locomotive is fine.

Wait, you're actually using all 8 ports of a roboport? Are you sure you need all of those ports? In my experience you don't need more than 5 stacks of construction robots in the whole factory. But when you really want to sort the robots you could set up an inserter which takes out all of the robots ...

Well the version of the website should be the the same as the steam version so I assume that you already have the files :D Just check out C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\ (or C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\ if you're on 64-bit)
There you will (hopefully) find the factorio folder. No need to ...

The devs made the server file downloadable for everybody, you can get it on their homepage
(it's this little link under the giant yellow button labelled "Try demo")

Hm, that's indeed strange. I've never seen this before. Could you post some images of the setup and the electric network GUI (which you can access by clicking on a power pole). And what exactly do you mean with 2 seperated networks? Do you have two power poles per solar panel which aren't connected?

But you can get electricity from Oil! You can turn any sort of oil into Solid Fuel ( https://wiki.factorio.com/index.php?title=Solid_fuel )
Then you can put it into a boiler just like coal. BTW I think it's more efficient to transform the heavy oil to light oil before making solid fuel out of it ...
