Cool beans. Try wiring a push button to the central power pole with a red wire and trace what happens when you send that initial pulse into the system. I'm also interested to know which parts of OP made sense and which didn't, as I want to get better at explanatory writing.

Correct, this is just painting zones. I haven't got any other blueprints yet, but yeah you'd need stuff to dispatch miners to resources and haulers between depots and miners. I don't get a lot of time to play, so I can't commit to working on designs in MP or whatever.
