Re: Climate Change

It doesn't help that people will refuse to change for the better. For example quite a large amount of methane is produced via agriculture. A good way to cut on those would be just less meat intake for everybody. However actually try to tell people to eat less meats (and less animal dairy products) a...

Re: Friday Facts #365 - Future plans

Really eager to see in which direction this big expansion will take! I also wonder what the price of it will end up being too. But that's all stuff we'll have to wait in order to see.

Re: Some ideas for the "One big expansion pack"

Personally I will wait on what they decide the focus of said big expansion pack will be before having any suggestions. I just don't know what to suggest when the focus could be on something completely different than what I suggest. For example I would love it if the player build aesthetic aspect of ...

Re: Poll for strategies to power your equipment grid

The solar panels are good in the early game, where I'd say modular armor is more for a small personal construction bot setup. Afterward they just become filler for those empty 1x1 spaces. If you have any that is. You'd think that the enormous size space of PFR's would be inconvenient, but if you pla...

Re: Anyone standardizing on very long trains?

Gonna be honest, I really love long train but I really don't like the look of them having like 4+ locos one/both ends.

Otherwise I'd use 20+ wagon trains already.

Re: Stages of Factorio gameplay

I actually did pick all of the above options. At some point I really wanted to try the game in different ways. Some of the achievements in this game promote exactly that. And this is one of the rare instance where I actually wanted to speerun said game. As a result I'm done with all the achievements...

Re: Alt-F4 #23 - Beltravaganza

Extremely informative! With how much I use circuit network stuff I actually never really used them on belts. Feels like there's a ton of missed potential here for me.

Re: Factorio confessions

I like to optimize part of my factory for minimal pollution and electricity consumption. I don't even play on death world settings.

I'll even use circuit networks to shutdown parts of my factory when they aren't needed at all. And use plenty of green modules when needed for such low energy goals.

Re: [1.1][Poll] Do you more often mess up your quickbar now?

Oh, I guess this is why the quickbar was weird when I tried the belt madness gamemode not too long ago when I tried 1.1

For me I was messing up my quickbar constantly in that. But thankfully you made me aware that there is an option for this very reason.

Re: Anyone use barrels?

Has anyone found cases where barrels are a better choice than fluid train cars? I use them for uranium mining. filter for my waggons: 4 slots for sulfuric acid barrels 4 slots for empty barrels rest for uranium ore the ratio is off after researching several stages of mining productivity. I never bo...

Re: Chain signals are overused

I think that at large, this is a symptom on the learning curve of train signals in general. The problem is that since it is a very complicated system for a lot of people it will be either of the following: - Person use blueprints without learning signals - Person learn signals via a lot of experimen...

Re: Factorio SpeedRunners and Videos

I'm also of the opinion that the speedrunning scene for this game is a very small percentage. At least compared to a lot of other games out there. The achievements don't mean that they are promoting a way of play above the others, but rather to make you play in a different way and make you learn abo...

Re: your thoughts on menu simulation

I do agree with the sentiment that they are too short. I can understand the ones about fighting bitters being short since most combat in this game is short in general. But stuff like factories and other kind of features being displayed should be done longer. Otherwise the simulations should be only ...

Re: Anyone use barrels?

They are obviously the way to go if you plan to use bots to transport fluids, since you have no choice at all in that regard. Important to also think that barrels are very precise; as each one is 50 units of fluid. So if you are into being really really precise on how you use certain fluids then the...
