Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

Does this mean that items with different quality won't stack into the same item stack? This will break lots of builds like malls and train recipe filters.

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

Honestly? Not a fan. Even with existing machine tiers I frequently don't even bother using anything past tier 1, and managing quality on top of that feels like a level of micromanagement that I don't need. Besides, having an assembly line where 2 assemblers are randomly 50% faster than everything el...

Re: Friday Facts #373 - Factorio: Space Age

My bet is that the only reason they mentioned the cliff explosives nightmare is only to get people all riled up so that they can triumphantly fix it later :)

Re: Friday Facts #373 - Factorio: Space Age

Also, for people who are afraid it is too fast. The 80 hour estimate to finish is loosely approximated by being able to finish vanilla by around 35 hours if you try. In other words, if you don't rush and want to build neatly and enjoy the progress slowly, it will certainly be much more. I think mos...

Re: Friday Facts #373 - Factorio: Space Age

My main hope is that the new engine features will help Earendel make a better SE, because for DLC you finish its 80-hour campaign once and you're done. SE you can play for much longer and it has enough depth to make every run feel fresh.

Also any improvements to the train system are ultra-welcome.

Re: [1.1.85] Inserters get stuck when transferring stuff between containers with mixed filters

I understand that it's likely done this way to enable more efficient implementation, but still sad that it's never been a goal to make such setup work. I guess the reason why it works for assemblers and does not work for containers is because assemblers request less items than the stack limit, so in...

Re: [1.1.85] Inserters get stuck when transferring stuff between containers with mixed filters

It's quite unfortunate that it's not supposed to work with stack inserters, because it could allow very cool and efficient wagon-based factories and unloading stations. However, I definitely did test it with non-stack inserters (limited stack size to 1 on long-handed inserters), and they still did g...

[1.1.85] Trains that are snap-placed onto a station are not considered parked

If you put a train next to a train station (using snapping), attach a wagon, put something into a wagon and then use the station to read the train's contents, the list will be empty. You'd need to fuel the train, then give it a command to go to the station (which is literally where it is) and only t...

[1.1.85] Inserters get stuck when transferring stuff between containers with mixed filters

This is an old issue and not specific to any of the newer versions as far as I know. Imagine you have two cargo wagons. Each wagon has filters set up, where one slot is reserved for copper plates and one slot is reserved for iron plates, all other slots are disabled. The first wagon is full (with on...
